Seven anti-marijuana billboards in the Portland, Oregon area have been taken down after numerous complaints were received from medical marijuana patients.
The billboards depicted people who looked almost zombie-like, with messages like “Marijuana. What’s good about it? Nothing.” The billboards were sponsored by www.protectoursociety.org, an organization which believes marijuana is harmful.
A medical marijuana user who goes by Cyn Sativa told Portland News Channel 8 that, “The message [of the billboards] is completely misleading.” Sativa was one of the heads of a group that pressured Clear Channel to take down the billboards.
Clear Channel released a statement explaining, “The ads protesting marijuana are being removed because our policy is transparency of advertising campaigns and the advertisers who are sponsoring them.”
