On Saturday, half a million dollars worth of marijuana was turned over to DEA agents in South Florida.
The weed was seized after the crew of a Customs and Border Protection aircraft on patrol noticed a suspicious boat with 5 people on it in the Western Caribbean sea.
The Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk was sent to investigate. As they approached the boat, they saw the men dumping packages over the side into the water. In all, 68 packages were recovered by the coast guard. Upon opening them, they found that they were filled with marijuana.
Four of the smugglers were transferred to another Coast Guard ship and brought to the Jamaican Defense Force. The last smuggler and the bales of marijuana were brought to Key West, Fl.
