On Saturday, Mount Vernon, NY city firefighters discovered an elaborate marijuana grow hidden below the former location of Fabulous Flowers, a flower shop that moved across town prior to this incident.
The incident started when a neighboring business called the Fire Department to report a water leak around 4 PM. When officers arrived, water was flowing from the building. Firefighters prepared to break in to stop the leak, but a passerby told firefighters they had seen someone inside the building.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Al Everett, “Two people came out and saw the firefighters and left the scene. They didn’t hang around to be identified.”
Police have still not found the two men.
Once they went inside the building, firefighters discovered an elaborate marijuana grow with over 300 plants inside. Officers also discovered tools for growing marijuana as well as paraphernalia for packaging it.
The marijuana is estimated to be worth approximately $250,000.
Mount Vernon detectives did not have anywhere to store the marijuana plants, so they called in the DEA. The DEA is now helping the police department in the investigation.

If that would have been in Ca. that would be 300 x $2,000 for each of the 1 lb. the plants would supposedly produce. Same outcome though.

^^ur math is wayyyyyyyyyyyy off……if they were pulling a pound per plant(which is EXTREMELY doubtful) lets say 3k for pound x 300= $900,000, i figure a qp per plant is what the cops were going off but thats prolly giving them too much credit lol
good to hear these are smart and dipped although if the fire department did end up kicking down there door without a warrant i dont think they could get charged with what was fouond in there residence

Yea @ Chitown, you are right about the math part. I was using California standards and was referring to an earlier news article by Lucy dated January 12, "Tip leads San Jose Police to over 700k of pot" I think thats the title. Ca. cops in San Jose were using this 1lb. per plant for each 300 plants indoor x $2,000. They had another 100,000 in finished pot I guess as well to hit the 700,000 number they claimed for that bust. I guess it would have helped if I had made that reference earlier.
