Early Saturday morning, at approximately 4 a.m., a three-alarm fire broke out in Oakland, California in a building on what has been named “Auto Row,” due to the prevalence of car dealerships on a short stretch of road.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze, despite the fact that at times the flames soared to 20 feet. No one was hurt in the fire.
After firefighters were able to contain the blaze, they began to investigate the cause of the fire. That is when they found what appeared to be a marijuana growing operation. They were tipped off by the fact that there were dozens of marijuana plants in the vicinity.
It has not yet been determined that the grow was the cause of the fire. Currently no arrests have been made, but authorities are still investigating.
The fire occurred on the 3000 block of Broadway, close to 30th street in Oakland.
