New Hamsphire Bills Would Legalize Marijuana

 by lucy

On Thursday, the New Hampshire House Committee will hold hearings on three bills, all of which aim to legalize and decriminalize marijuana.

One bill would remove penalties for possession or use of marijuana, one bill could decriminalize possession of under an ounce of marijuana, and the final bill would legalize marijuana for people age 21 and over and tax its sale.

The full legalization bill, House Bill 492, was filed by a bipartisan group of five legsilators.

A recent Public Policy Polling Survey showed that 53% of New Hampshire voters supported changing the state law to legalize marijuana and regulate it like alcohol.  37% opposed marijuana legalization.
