On Thursday, Delegate Curt Anderson introduced a bill that would legalize the recreational use of marijuana in Maryland, similar to Amendment 64 in Colorado and I-502 in Washington.
The bill would allow individuals 21 and over to smoke marijuana legally. It would also allow marijuana to be sold by the state and would let individuals grow up to three marijuana plants in their homes.
For each ounce sold, the state would also collect a $50 excise tax. Some of the money collected from the program would go toward treatment for those with substance abuse problems.
Under the proposed bill, smoking marijuana in public or driving under the influence would still not be allowed.

I've lived in MD several times and hope they pass this. States need income and taxing marijuana is easier than stopping every car on I-95 and giving them a ticket. Go Maryland!
