Almost 600 lbs of Marijuana Plants Found During Bronx Raid

 by lucy

Yesterday, NYPD officers raided a building in the Bronx after receiving a tip from one of the building’s neighbors about a potential marijuana grow-op.

Police found over 600 pounds of marijuana plants growing in the 5 story building.  The growing operation was said to have been a sophisticated setup that was growing millions of dollars worth of marijuana annually.  Police estimated that the operation was bringing in approximately $250,000 every 30 days.

Three individuals were reportedly charged– Brian Munoz, 24, Victor Reyes, 23, and Diego Reyes, 25.  All were said to be facing charges of criminal possession of marijuana, as well as criminal use of drug paraphernalia in both the first and second degree.

The tip was received in late 2011, and police had conducted weeks of surveillance.  Tuesday, police moved in with a search warrant and arrested the three suspects.

600 lbs of plants? Why couldnt they just say how many plants there were? I bet that even though they had such a “sophisticated setup” they didnt have enough carbon filters.
