Discovery Network Launches 2 Marijuana-Related TV Shows

 by lucy

This week, the Discovery network will launch a new marijuana-related show, called “Weed Country”.  The show, which premieres at 10 pm on Wednesday, focuses on both sides of the marijuana debate.

Growers are shown honing their craft, while law enforcement officials are shown training to spot and shut down illegal marijuana grows.

Network executive Nancy Daniels said of the show, “It surprised me with how deep and complex it was.”

The show will debut with 6-episodes.  After they have finished airing, the network will replace it with another marijuana-related show called “Pot Cops”.

As the name alludes to, “Pot Cops” will focus on police officers hunting down marijuana farms in Humboldt County, Ca.

Initially, Discovery had planned to air the two shows back to back and call the event “Weed Wednesdays” but that was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.

The Discovery network became pioneers in weed-related television two years ago when they premiered “Weed Wars”, which followed Harborside Health Center owner Steve DeAngelo.  While the show did not produce good ratings, the network is still interested in focusing on the cannabis community.

Daniels explained, “We still think it’s an interesting world and maybe we didn’t tap into the right part of it.”

i just hope they really search for putting out the truth in this, because it seems that every documentary is only about 40-50% true on certain, or even both sides. i hope them having two seperate perspectives will let them focus on the true aspects of both. its going to be interesting to see how the police feel about this, im sure at least seme of them detect the futility of raids and such.

All these shows focus on is production quality and added unnecessary drama for views, why don't they just focus on facts and let people know the real cannabis instead of showing us televised growers and "police" that want the grows stopped. Of course a lot of cops want the grows stopped, everyone knows that it's currently wrongly illegal, what the people that take the time to watch the show need to learn are the basic facts. It's discovery, anyone watching discovery for cannabis shows IMO is new to the culture and needs to be taught the truth before watching some Drama bout some growers
