Police in Zimbabwe say they have recovered almost 4 tons of marijuana that was being smuggled into the country in a truck from nearby Malawi.
The truck was intercepted when police saw it was being escorted by a minibus and a taxi, something they found to be suspicious. The driver said he was heading toward South Africa when he was caught. The driver was arrested but his accomplices ran off.
The marijuana was packed in 220 pound hessian bags that are normally used for tobacco.
Marijuana plants grow wild in Southern Africa, but the drug is illegal.
