On January 25, Western Michigan University will hold a debate on marijuana legalization at the Fetzer Center. Students, faculty, and expert speakers will all participate in the debate, meant to get young people in Michigan thinking about marijuana legalization.
The discussion will follow a faux debate format, where participants will speak to the audience against legalization, followed by a comment from those in favor of legalization.
After the debate, State Representative Mike Callton will speak about Michigan House Bill 5580, which regulates medical marijuana collectives. Other speakers will include Bill Beck President of the VanKal Tea Party, who is against the legalization of marijuana and Matthew Able, a Detroit attorney who is the head of Michigan NORML.
The debate will be put on from 5PM to 9PM. The event will be open to the public.
