Tennessee Medical Marijuana Bill Takes First Step Toward House Vote

 by lucy

The Tennessee Senate House Health and Human Resources Committee passed a medical marijuana bill on voice vote today.

The bill would allow medical marijuana patients to enroll in a “safe access” program where they could have marijuana recommended for them from a doctor.  Under the bill marijuana would be distributed by a licensed pharmacist at participating pharmacies.

The bill is sponsored by Democratic Representative Jeanne Richardson.

While the bill was cleared by the committee by voice vote, it still faces the full House Health and Human Resources Committee and must also clear other committee panels before it reaches the House floor.
