Herbal Medicine Care was the last collective in Chatsworth, CA; that is, until yesterday afternoon. LAPD officers finished their brick and mortar sweep of collectives in Chatsworth Monday afternoon. The last shop in the district, Herbal Medicine Care, was shut down, and it resulted in three arrests.
Police seized over 50 lbs of marijuana including over 150 plants. They also confiscated the collective’s medical records. Everything that was confiscated was valued at approximately $600,000.
After the operation concluded on Monday, a press conference was held. Police highlighted the fact that marijuana is still illegal federally, despite the fact that Proposition 215 was approved by California voters to legalize medical marijuana in 1996. Deputy Chief Jorge Villegas said, “We’re not done yet. There are approximately 200 other locations within the San Fernando Valley that we’re also going to be targeting.”
