San Diego City Council to Vote on Medical Marijuana Ordinance

 by lucy

Mark your calendar!  On Tuesday, March 5th, the San Diego City Council will vote on a newly written and revised ordinance to allow and regulate medical marijuana dispensaries in the city.

The ordinance would allow medical marijuana collectives to re-open in San Diego.  Currently, they are banned due to zoning regulations.

San Diego’s new mayor, Bob Filner, supports medical marijuana collectives and wants to help them re-open in the city.  Filner has said the ordinance will “not only allow compassionate use but is tightly controlled and regulated.”  That balance for both proponents and opponents of medical marijuana is key to the success of a city’s MMJ program.

The SD chapter of Americans for Sage Access is encouraging all medical marijuana patients and supporters to turn out to the hearing to urge the city to approve the ordinance.

WHAT: SD City Council Vote on MMJ Ordinance
WHEN: 3/5/2013 – 10am
WHERE: 202 C St. (12th Floor) San Diego, CA 92101
